About

Wheelwright

A study app for remembering what you learn. Recognising an answer isn't the same as knowing it, so instead of flipping cards you explain each answer in your own words and get feedback on how much of it you really retained.

How it works

  • Explain, don't flip. You type the answer in your own words, and Claude compares it with the reference: how much you retained, what you missed or got wrong, and a tighter way to say it.
  • Forgotten to retained. That assessment sets a slider, which you can adjust, and it decides when you see the card again.
  • Spaced repetition. The FSRS scheduler brings each card back just before you're likely to forget it, so the gaps grow as the memory gets stronger.
  • Fresh numbers. Maths cards change their numbers every time, so you practise the method rather than memorising an answer.

Built with

Python and Flask, SQLite, the FSRS scheduling library, and Claude (Anthropic) for grading. On this public demo your cards are private to your browser, with a set of sample questions to try first. The code is on GitHub.
